Captain Ty fished the Cat Island Wahoo tournament with
some friends on their boat and reports that the wahoo
fishing was out of sight. The tournament caught a total
of almost 3,000lbs of wahoo in 3 days with a dozen boats
fishing. He starts a week long trip tomorrow with Tom
Foster and friends, so check out the website or Facebook
for daily reports from Treasure Quay this week. |

Captain Ty reports that the wahoo fishing slowed down a
little with the new moon, but he was catching a few
everyday and good numbers of blackfin tuna. The bottom
fishing for the yellowtails and groupers was real good
for him last week. He is heading to Cat Island for the
Wahoo Tournament, so I will have a report from there
over the weekend. |

Dec. 12-17, 2010
-
Doug and his folks have headed home for the
holidays. They will be back right after Christmas, so we
have a little break here. The wind was tough this past
week with three days just plain unfishable. Those days
Captain Ty and I got out, the Wahoo are still biting on
the tide. We did not catch any monsters this past week,
but we were still catching 4-8 a day and we had several
in the 50lb class. We did lose a monster at the boat,
but that is fishing. On Sunday we spent a day trolling
with ballyhoo instead of the high speed fishing, we
managed to release a small blue marlin and had a
mahi-mahi.

Having the wind blow hard 25 knots+ from the NW
must make them hungry. We fished up north today from
Guana Cay to Green Turtle Cay and once again in 400-600
feet the wahoo were chewin’ again. We ended our day with
4 nice wahoo and a blackfin tuna. We lost 2 more nice
wahoo boatside and had several more good bites. Don’t
forget, we still have some open days right around
Christmas and in January, so please think about coming
down here so that you can get in on this great fishing
and warm weather.

Dec. 6, 2010 -
Well they almost cracked the 100lb mark. Second day of
fishing this winter's season and they caught a 97lb
Wahoo. Had three more wahoo and plenty more bites down
off Man of War Cay. Yesterday they had a Wahoo and a
nice mahi-mahi in 25 knots of NW wind and pretty bad
conditions. And again not much fishing pressure.

Dec. 5, 2010 -
We
had a great crossing, leaving from Cape Canaveral Friday
night, arriving in Treasure Saturday around 3:00. Today
was our first day of fishing with Doug Ricks and his new
bride along with Matt. Tough conditions with 25 knots
of NW wind. We found some bait down off Man of War and
caught a nice Mahi and a wahoo before calling it a day
in pretty bad conditions. Back at it tomorrow. |

Nov. 2010
We will be arriving in Treasure in time for Thanksgiving
and some great fall fishing. I talked with the guys at
Treasure and they are already seeing nice wahoos, the
ever present blackfin tunas and some sailfish. Hawks
Nest Marina on Cat Island told me they are already
seeing wahoo in the 60-70lb class. So it sounds like
fishing is getting better. Keep in mind we are looking
for 2 guys for the Cat Island Wahoo Tournament in
January. |
